Alun Hoddinott

It is sad to note the recent death of the Welsh composer Alun Hoddinott. The night before he died, we gave the world premiere of his final string quartet in the Wigmore Hall. We feel deeply sad that he couldn't be there to hear it, but feel honoured to have given what must have been the last performance of one of his works during his lifetime. We all felt the quartet was profoundly moving, and will become a much loved and performed work, by us and other quartets.
