Two Knights in a day

9:49pm on 17th July 2009

We were very fortunate to be asked to act as solo quartet in front of an orchestra for a session to record a song that Paul McCartney has written (and is singing in) for a new film 'Everybody's Fine', directed by Kirk Jones. None of us were expecting him to actually be there, so we were all quite taken aback when we realised we'd be playing in front of one of the Beatles!! We stayed behind to get a photo with Sir Paul and ended up talking to him for some time. I am very happy to report that he was amazingly affable and down to earth. That evening, it was our turn to host the yearly Junior Fellows' Concert at the Royal College of Music. Sir Michael Parkinson has recently started supporting the RCM, so he was one of the guests. I, for one, was a little apprehensive about having to host an evening in front of Britain's most cherished presenter! The evening ran smoothly though and similar to our earlier encounter, we found 'Parky' to be incredibly friendly and charming. The evening's selection of music was diverse and there were some exceptional performances. Sacconi Quartet » Blog » Two Knights in a day
