New Sacconi Czech disc on BBC Radio 3
Stay by the radio this weekend as the fantastic new Sacconi CD of Czech music will be featured on BBC Radio 3 on 24th April (Easter Sunday)
Presenter Chi-chi Nwanoku will be broadcasting two movements from the wonderful Dvorak American Quartet on her Requests Show on Sunday afternoon. The programme airs between 2pm and 4pm and the Sacconi recordings will be played at around 2.50pm.
The new CD, which will be available soon, was recorded after the success of the 2010 Czech-themed Sacconi Chamber Music Festival in Folkestone. This disc, along with the new Beethoven CD of opus 18 quartets (nos 1, 4 and 6) brings the Sacconi Records output to four fantastic releases. Once again, the Sacconi Quartet are grateful to Neil Canning for providing the cover artwork for the discs from his series of paintings, the Sacconi Suite. Stay tuned for further details of when the two new CDs will be available. The works that appear on the new Czech disc are:
* Suk – Meditation on an Old Czech Hymn, 'St. Wenceslas', opus 35a
* Smetana – String Quartet No. 1 in E minor, 'From My Life'
* Dvorak – String Quartet in F, opus 96, 'American'
